THE EFFECT:

The Magician takes out a $1 Bill and asks a member of the audience for another, new $1 Bill. Showing both sides of both $1 bills, the Magician explains the amazing properties of the paper on which American money is printed. As the Magician describes these unique properties, including the use of rayon fibers embedded in the paper, he/she begins folding the two $1 bills in half, then quarters, then eights and reaches into his/her pocket for a cigarette lighter. The Magician heats the edge of the folded bills and melts the two bills together. The Magician quickly pulls the two $1 bills apart, unfolding the packet in one move to display two solidly linked $1 bills. The bills can then be handed out for inspection.
