The Clampits (Jed, Jethro, Ellie may, and Granny) and a poor family living a hand to mouth existence when the find oil on their land and become rich. Jed move the family to Beverly Hills and moves in next door to the Drysdale's. (Mr. Drysdale) is also the bank president and he along with his assistant (Jane hathaway) work to help the Clampits fit in. Jed wants a good life for his daughter, Ellie May, so he hires a "French tutor" to help her. While the tutor is helping Ellie become more lady like she is also wooing Jed in a effort to get his money. Granny ends up in a nursing home because she sees right through the money grabbing tutor. Jane Hathaway and Jethro rescue Granny and arrive at the Clampit estate just in time to foil the wedding and save the day.
